Intimacy
Intimacy is based on real life encounters with strangers on a Melbourne street.
One night Ranters’ director Adriano Cortese left his apartment to seek out strangers on the street and ask them to talk. A lot of people said no, of course, but a surprising number said "yes…sure, ok." Through a series of intimate and diverse conversations, the work gives a candid and sometimes disquieting portrait of contemporary life where personal anxieties are never far from the surface.
"Ranters engages the audience in the process of theatrical meaning-making until the ordinary becomes something else that both reflects what it emerged from and transcends it."
Carl Nilsson-Pollas, Real Time Arts
"Intimacy is a stunning psychological and theatrical achievement…We are all in emotional danger if we isolate our souls this extaordinary piece suggests."
Emer O'Kelly, Irish Independent
"A shared Intimacy in a precious dedicated space: this could be the definition of theatre.”
Agathe Raybaud, Le Clou dans la Planche
"A presentation of such a high standard, both psychologically and theatrically."
